The Spanish Picos de Europa National Park is also known for having a hiking trail that is considered the most beautiful in Spain, including the islands. It’s called Senda del Río Cares, named after the Cares River, over which the canyon trail runs. Whether it is the most beautiful Spanish – we cannot judge, but clearly, it is unique. We have not walked like this in the tens of years we have been “running” in the mountains. Preparing for this hiking trail mainly meant figuring out the logistics as we traveled by motor home. In the end, everything worked out, including the weather.
There is a beautiful 230km drive around the Picos de Europa National Park, including interesting stops at beautiful natural spots. We did some of them. The video below shows the main parts of the scenic route and the stops, including the Senda del Río hike.
