Alquézar & Pasarelas del Vero
On the edge of the protected Aragonese area, “Parque Natural de la Sierra y los Caňones de Guara,” there are two gems in one. Alquézar is considered one of the most beautiful in Spain, and the Canyon del Río Vero, passable via the Pasarelas del Vero hiking trail that starts there, is listed among the 15 most beautiful hiking trails in Spain. We couldn’t miss such a chance to see both gems at once.
The town of Alquézar
Canyon del Río Vero
The trail leads into the Vero River canyon, then over the river, and finally back to the town through olive groves.
Entrance to the trail costs 5 Euros per adult. We bought tickets online the day before, but you can also buy them directly at the town hall, near which the trail starts.
The path is strictly one-way. The town hall regulates access by the date and time of entry.
The official website is Pasarelas de Alquézar.
The town has a parking lot for camper vans on the edge. No overnight stays or services are allowed, but it doesn’t matter in this case. The parking lot is beautiful—just tens of meters from the edge of Alquézar—and has a fantastic view. A pleasant place not only for overnight stays but also for hiking or cycling is the village of San Esteban de Litera, 50 km away.
