Les Guilleries-Savassona Nature Reserve in Catalonia, Spain

The nature reserve “Espai Natural de les Guilleries-Savassona” in the territory of Catalonia was next on our list of destinations that we chose on the way to Spanish mountains and natural beauties. And it did not disappoint. It offered beauties utterly different from the coastal area of Tossa de Mar. In addition to the natural beauty, it provided a unique place for travelers in motor homes located right in its heart. This is a place called Mas La Riba. Hiking trails lead directly from it to the surrounding area. We chose one of them – a hiking path to the village of Tavertet.

In addition, we also took a walk to the Pantà de Sau dam on the river Ter, which was put into operation in 1966 and covered the town of Sant Romà de Sau. The church of Sant Romà can be seen at the current low level.

Nowadays, the reservoir is evidently a first-rate tourism resource, as it attracts thousands of visitors every year. They come to enjoy not only the Guillerie-Savassom Natural Area but also the watersports on the dam itself.
