Havøysund Scenic Route in Norway

Havøysund Scenic Route is road No 889, which turns left from E69 approximately 125 km before reaching Nordkapp.

The proximity of the popular place called Nordkapp means that travelers rarely take this beautiful scenic route. Most are hurrying to the Nordkapp mentioned above and do not have time for this turn-off. But it is a shame for travelers and for the Havøysund area itself. The road itself is stunning. It is remote and, at the same time, so close to the crowded route to Nordkapp.

On the Havøysund scenic route, we met more reindeer than cars, and that is counting all vehicles, not just camper vans. We were pleased about this situation. But the residents of the fishing village of Havøysund, after which the entire scenic route is named, would perhaps welcome more visitors. Or maybe not. But the area is worth a visit.

We parked and overnighted a few hundred meters after the village. The village has an official parking lot for camper vans, but it was not lovely or welcoming, so we preferred this place. However, the strong wind and rain at night forced us to move into the village. But after the weather calmed down the following day, we returned here.
